A blogger interviewed me for her Youtube channel. You can check it out here. God, I don’t really sound that nasally, do I?
Very kind article about ‘Almost Perfect’

Jersey Shore
Playing With Matches has been nominated for the Garden State Teen Book Award in New Jersey. I keep expecting to get hit in the head with an anvil to offset all this good news.

I drove 740 miles in two days
And it was totally worth it. On Friday I went down to The Cape Girardeau Library where I got to talk about being a writer to two groups of teens. Quite frankly, I worry about the youth of today. When I was a teen, I was interested in normal things, like video games and vandalism. But these kids showed up at the library during summer vacation, with intelligent questions and interesting opinions. And I can tell they read quite a bit. Kids today…sheesh.
After passing out in a motel in Poplar Bluff (there was a time when I would have just slept in my car), I stopped by to see my old friend, Dave Malone, who’s an amazing poet. We caught up on the old days, when we did community theater together.
Finally, I drove to The Library Center in Springfield, Mo, which I initially mistook for a small aircraft hangar. This is the most impressive library I’ve seen since New York. I got to rub elbows with other YA novelists, such as Holly Schindler, Brent Crawford, and Jenny B. Jones. The teen volunteers were extremely nice, and they actually followed through on my request for a bowl of M&Ms with the brown ones taken out.
I’d really like to thank both libraries for having me, I had a most excellent time.

Great review of ‘Playing With Matches’
On ‘Forever Young Adult.’ Seriously, that site is worth checking out. Especially the YA drinking games.

Yo, babe, see my agent!
I’m excited to announce that I have official representation. Alanna Ramirez, of the Trident Media Group, is now my literary agent. I’m very excited about this.

Go Tarheels!
Apparently Playing With Matches was nominated for the 2010-2011 The North Carolina School Library Media Association Young Adult Book Award. I’m truly honored (plus, they nominated Hunger Games last year, so I actually stand a chance).

It’s an honest mistake…
So anti-gay activist George Rekers ‘accidentally’ hires a male prostitute to accompany him on vacation…c’mon, who can say the same thing’s never happened to them? Right? Hello?

Shout out to some gracious hosts
I was very honored to have Playing With Matches chosen as the ‘one read’ book at the Missouri Assocation of School Librarians convention. What a fun time. Thanks everyone.
